Forgive Me

Oh my son look at what I’ve done
But I am learning still
Learning still
Know that I am learning still
And oh my wife you are my life
And I am burning still
Burning still
Know that I am burning for you still

And all, all, all of my light is for you
And home, home’s anywhere you are too
So take this one fallen man on his knees
Saying please forgive me

Oh my God how you make it hard
Not to pick the apple
Pick the apple
And Lord I long to give it back.

And I was on shakey land
Lost and unsure I opened my hand
And she held it like sinking sand

But all, all, all of my light is for you
And home, home’s anywhere you are too
So take this one fallen man on his knees
Saying please

All, all, all of my light is for you
And home, home’s anywhere you are too
So take this one fallen man on his knees
Saying please forgive me
Forgive me
Forgive me

Going North

I wanna dance the tango with chance
I wanna ride on the wire
Cos nothing gets done with dust in your gun
And nobody respects a liar
So goodbye for a while I’m off to explore
Every boundary and every door
Yeah I’m going north

I wanna know where children would go
If they never learnt to be cool
Cos nothing’s achieved when pushed up a sleeve
Till nobody thinks you’re a fool
So goodbye for a while I’m out to learn more
About who I really was before
Yeah I’m going north

Up where the hunted hide with ease
Under the arms of eye-less trees
Up where the answers fall like leaves
Oh and your love is all I need
Yeah I’m going north

Peachy

It’s not my fault
It can’t be my fault
That you speak to me the way you do
Now I’m split in two
I’m half me and half you
But I hate us both, don’t you?

No of course you don’t of course you don’t
You say life is peachy without me
Of course you don’t of course you don’t
You say life is peachy without me

It’s not your fault
It’s can’t be your fault
That I let you crawl inside my head
Cos you know my places
And you know that face
But I hate this taste, don’t you?

No of course you don’t of course you don’t
You say life is peachy without me
Of course you don’t of course you don’t
You say life is peachy without me
Un-grip me
Un-learn me
Un-grip me

It’s no-ones fault
It’s nobody’s fault
That I fell on you and you on me
That’s what humans do
Then they pass on through
But I think we can’t, don’t you?

No of course you don’t of course you don’t
You say life is peachy without me
Of course you don’t of course you don’t
You say life is peachy without me

Angela

Clear the way she’s coming through
With her eye-shadow of satin blue
And her fingernails all painted blue
She’s a danger you’re addicted to

Angela, Angela you’re a danger he’s addicted to

So move aside she has arrived
With her baby neck and sleepy eyes
She has heels that walk all over you
She’s a danger you’re addicted to

Angela, Angela you’re a danger he’s addicted to
Oh Angela, Angela you’re a danger he’s addicted to

And I try to be more like you
Speak louder and prouder and hide my love but it spills out

Angela, Angela you’re a danger he’s addicted to
Oh Angela, Angela you’re a danger he’s addicted to
So I’ll try to be more, more like you

The Wrong Girl

So the floodgates open but nothing comes out
I’m feeling no relief in my head, just doubt
But my heart keeps telling me “Hold your ground
You’ll never learn a thing if you bail out now”

And I’m lonely again tonight
I can feel it like a knot in my side
They keep saying this is part of the ride
But I’m not getting stronger

Yet hold me against the light
And do you see any bullet inside?
Wouldn’t find one if you magnified
Because you’ve got the wrong girl

Had my fingers around the back of your chair
You’d never miss a thing but you missed me there
And I just kept thinking “Am I prepared
To pull it out from under your trusting stare?”

Now the house is quiet as a hollow head
And I’m walking round bumping into things you said
This has not been as easy as I thought it would
I’d be cooling down the fire if I thought I could

And I’m lonely again tonight
I can feel it like a knot in my side
They keep saying this is part of the ride
But I’m not getting stronger

Yet hold me against the light
And do you see any bullet inside?
Wouldn’t find one if you magnified
Because you’ve got the wrong girl

Warm Whispers

Your warm whispers
Out of the dark they carry my heart
Your warm whispers
Into the dawn they carry me through
And I’m weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me, surrounding me

Your warm whispers
Letting me drown in a pool of you
Your warm whispers
Keeping the noise from breaking through
And I’m weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me, surrounding me
Yeah I’m weeping warm honey and milk that you
Stay surrounding me, surrounding me
Honey stay surrounding me

Secret

You were from the North, I was from the South
We were from opposite places, different towns
But I knew it was good and you knew it was too
So we moved together like a ball and chain
Minds becoming two halves of the same
It was real, but in shadows it grew

Cos you’ve got a secret don’t ya babe?

I would’ve shouted loud and broken through
I would’ve given it all to belong to you
But there were different plans, different rules
You said “where I’m from there is a lock and key
If you’d be so kind as to follow me
I will show you the way to the rest of my sins”

Cos you’ve got a secret don’t ya babe?
Yeah you, you got a secret don’t ya babe?
And I should know
Yeah I should know

So this room was damp where your sins laid
There was that smell in the air of an old place
That hadn’t seen much daylight in years
And you threw me down, said, “If ya don’t mind
I’m gonna leave you here until night time
Then we can do what we want my baby out of the spotlight.”

Cos you’ve got a secret don’t ya babe?
Yeah you, you got a secret don’t ya babe?
And I should know
Yeah I should know
For I’m your secret aren’t I babe?
Yeah I’m your secret aren’t I babe?
Aren’t I babe?

Sugarcane

Baby ballerina’s
Hiding somewhere in the corner
Where the shadow wraps around her
And our torches cannot find her
She will stay there till the morning
Crawl behind us as we are yawning
And she will leave our game
To never be the same

So grow tall sugarcane
Eat that soil, drink the rain
But know they’ll chase you if you play their little games
So run, run fast sugarcane

You see my peep-show booth is handy
There’s a one-way-only mirror
So I can dance here with my hair down
But I don’t see if you get bitter
And there’s a button right beside me
If I happen to want a wall to hide me
If only the ballerina had one too

So grow tall sugarcane
Eat that soil, drink the rain
But know they’ll chase you if you play their little game
So run, run fast sugar cane
Yeah you better run, run fast sugarcane

And she said always be afraid
Yeah you should always be afraid…

To grow tall sugarcane
Eat that soil, drink the rain
But know they’ll chase you if you play their little game
So run, run fast sugar cane
Yeah you better run, run fast sugarcane

Steer

Feel it falling off like clothing
Taste it rolling on your tongue
See the lights above you glowing
Oh and breathe them deep into your lungs

It was always simple, not hidden hard
You’ve been pulling at the strings playing puppeteer for kings
And you’ve had enough

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear
And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know that you control where you go
You can steer

So hold this feeling like a new born
Of freedom surging through your veins
You have opened up a new door
So bring on the wind, fire and rain

It was always simple, not hidden hard
You’ve been played at a game called remembering your name
And you stuffed it up

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear
And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know that you control where you go
You can steer

‘Cos you’ve been listening for answers
But the city screams and all your dreams go unheard

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear
And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know that you control where you go
You can steer
Yeah get out of the box and step into the clear
‘Cos now you finally know you can steer

100 Round the Bends

I follow complications like a bloodhound
So pick me up, twist me round and throw me all the way back down
‘Cos I find my feet addicted to the ceiling when hanging upside
Your smile’s a frown- it’s all too easy on the ground

So jump in my car we’ll go 100 round the bends
We’ll take this road until we’re back at the start yet again
Jump in my car we’ll go 100 round the bends
And we’ll pretend that feeling rage is feeling real
That feeling is feeling real

So I’ve got a brand new rubber band for you boy
Go on and give it a stretch, I can see you’re itching to
Frustrations on the boil
But then I see my damn reflection in your eyeballs
And I want nothing more to do with all
The things you’ve made me think I am

So jump in my car we’ll go 100 round the bends
We’ll take this road until we’re back at the start yet again
Jump in my car we’ll go 100 round the bends
And we’ll pretend that feeling rage is feeling real
That feeling is feeling real

You were everything for a little while
But I broke it I broke it I broke it I broke it didn’t I?
You were everything for a little while
But I broke it I broke it I broke it I broke it didn’t I?
Oh didn’t I

So jump in my car we’ll go 100 round the bends
We’ll take this road until we’re back at the start yet again
Jump in my car we’ll go 100 round the bends
And we’ll pretend that feeling rage is feeling real
That feeling is feeling real…but feeling rage ain’t feeling real

Where I Stood

I don’t know what I’ve done
Or if I like what I’ve begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it’s all or none

There were sounds in my head
Little voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening

‘Cos I don’t know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
‘Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right
But you ain’t leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside

‘Cos I don’t know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
‘Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

And I won’t be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me than anyone I ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself and so I say to you
This is what I have to do

‘Cos I don’t know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
‘Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood
Oh, she who dares to stand where I stood
