MISSY’S NEW EP “MORE THAN THIS”

After well over a year of touring in North America Missy Higgins is finally returning home to Australia for some local shows. What’s more these dates will coincide with a brand new EP for Australian fans. It’s entitled “More Than This” and it contains four musical postcards from her time spent Stateside.

This exclusive online release will be available on iTunes from Tuesday March 31.

Missy has confirmed that ALL royalties from the sale of the “More Than This” EP will go straight to the “Save The Kimberley” group who are working tirelessly to oppose the governments proposed industrialization of the Kimberley region in North Western Australia. Missy has a long history with the region spending many months living in Broome and penning most of the songs on her album “On A Clear Night” there. She also filmed a movie in the region late last year. The Kimberley is still one of the worlds few untouched and unspoiled places.

The EP brings together four cover versions that Missy has recorded for various purposes in the U.S. The title track “More Than This” is a reworking of the Roxy Music classic. The song was recorded for a special album which her U.S. label, Warner Bros., compiled to celebrate their 50th anniversary. That disc brings together current artists covering songs from throughout WB’s illustrious history. “It’s particularly intimidating attempting to cover a song that was so perfect in it’s original form-I wanted to make it my ‘folky own’.” Missy said.

MISSY HIGGINS & JASON MRAZ TO MAKE “MUSIC IN THE PARK”

MULTIPLATINUM SELLING SINGER/SONGWRITERS ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE ADELAIDE CONCERT

Multiple ARIA Award winner Missy Higgins will return from the U.S.A. for a special concert under the stars with multiple Grammy nominee Jason Mraz on Friday April 17 in Adelaide’s Bonython Park.

Both artists have built enviable reputations through their memorable live shows but it’s been almost 18 months since Missy played Australian gigs and it’s nearly two and a half years since Jason’s been to Adelaide. Over that time Missy’s non-stop U.S. touring has propelled her aching balled “Where I Stood” into the top 10 of the U.S. airplay charts. Meanwhile, Jason’s huge global hit “I’m Yours” has driven his album “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.” past 100,000 sales in Australia.

Tickets for “Music In The Park With Missy Higgins and Jason Mraz” will go on sale from 9am, Thursday 19 February.

The pair will be joined in the Park by acclaimed Australian singer songwriter Bob Evans. Evans is the homespun alter ego of former Jebadiah frontman Kevin Mitchell. He has just released the first single “Someone So Much” from the forthcoming album “Goodnight, Bull Creek!”.

Opening the event will be American songsmith Eric Hutchinson whose song “Rock’n’roll” which currently featuring on promo’s for the hit TV program, “Packed To The Rafters”.

Missy Higgins and Jason Mraz have known each other for several years since first meeting at a tiny club in L.A. where Missy was performing. While the pair will both feature on the Blues & Roots Festivals in Byron Bay and Perth, this Adelaide concert will be their one and only co-headlining date.

Missy commented “I did some touring with Jason in the States a few years back and I was blown away by his voice and his confidence on stage. That, along with the fact that I hear he’s got a hit single at the moment means I reckon he’s going to be eaten alive by the Adelaidians. In a good way, of course!”

Says Jason “Missy is such a pure and authentic artist, I always love the chance to experience her singing. I haven’t seen her in a few months since we crossed paths at a little sushi bar in Salt Lake City, Utah while both on tour in the US. I would feel so lucky to get the chance to collaborate on stage in Adelaide – it would be the highlight of our Australian tour!”

(plus special guests Bob Evans & Eric Hutchinson)
Friday 17 April, Bonython Park, Adelaide.
