I don’t know about you but I got unexpectedly te I don’t know about you but I got unexpectedly teary when our new Prime Minister announced at the beginning of his acceptance speech that his government intended to honour the Uluru Statement Of The Heart in full. I got a glimpse of an Australia that might finally be recognising and respecting the voices of its First People. Did you know today is the start of Reconciliation Week? @childrensground are running a ‘Wear It Yellow’ campaign to encourage schools, workplaces and organisations to wear yellow to show their support for First Nations people and educate themselves on what justice and reconciliation really involves. I personally have so much still to learn. With this new change in government now’s a great chance to show that we are ALL committed to living in a fairer Australia, recognising the Nations that have been here for millennia, building a future full of opportunity for First Nations people and full of truth-telling in our schools, homes and workplaces.
