I’m really excited to announce that I’ll be going on tour across the country next year to celebrate 20 years of The Sound Of White, on 'The Second Act Tour’. These shows will be split into two sets - the first will be a blend of songs you know and some newbies, in a stripped back, acoustic mode. Then in the second set, I’ll be playing The Sound Of White in its entirety, plus a few more, together with my band! I could say it’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since The Sound Of White was released. But when I think back to all the cities and countries I’ve traipsed around, all the venues I’ve reverberated in, all the musicians I’ve collaborated with on alternative versions of these songs, all the packets of corn chips I’ve opened in all the green rooms I’ve nervously waited in…it feels like many lifetimes ago. There have been many reincarnations, or you could even say, “re-issues” of me. The songs on the Sound Of White will always have a special place in my heart. There’s an innocence to them, a rawness and potency of emotion. I was young. Explosions were happening in my heart from experiencing certain feelings for the first time: love, heart-break, helplessness, grief, remorse, longing. There’s also a beautiful, unselfconsciousness that happens when it doesn’t cross your mind that anyone will ever hear your songs. They are written purely for survival’s sake. In that way it is really special and can only ever happen once in a lifetime.
