“You Should Run” is the first song from a new Missy Higgins’ album due later in 2024. Raw, vulnerable, scarred but open hearted, the intense ballad sees Missy producing, engineering and performing everything herself in her own home. It’s a clear statement of intent.
“After going through a divorce a couple of years ago I felt like the entire story I had written for myself had burnt to the ground”, Missy explains. “For the first time in ages I found myself using song-writing as a form of therapy to try to make sense of it all, in particular how I was supposed to start rebuilding. It’s an intensely personal song so I wanted the recording process to mirror that, thus why I did it alone so I could really let it all out, tears and all.”
“You Should Run” is a vivid emotional outpouring that will strike a deep chord with everyone who has ever had to start all over again. It sees Missy returning to the highly confessional writing style which first connected her with audiences 20 years ago but this time she’s singing about different sorts of “scars”.
After selling out every show on “The Second Act Tour” last December Missy Higgins has some good news for all those fans who missed out – revealing a handful of encore dates for her ‘anniversary tour with a difference’. New concerts in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will go on sale next week with shows in Adelaide and Darwin to be announced next month. For all details click here.
“The Second Act Tour” will see Missy celebrating the 20th anniversary of her landmark debut “The Sound Of White” by performing the work in its entirety for the first time ever. This unique two part show will also see Missy previewing tunes from a brand new album – due later this year – which has been described as “a kind of sequel” to her landmark debut.
“I’m probably biased but I think these songs are as good as anything I’ve written. As a 40-year-old female musician it’s not easy to get heard but hopefully this tour will give people a chance to hear the new material, particularly anyone struggling through a similar life transition. I’ve realised lately there are a lot of us out there, and it’s always nice to realise you’re not alone.”

EAST COAST ENCORE SHOWS ADDED FOR ‘THE SECOND ACT TOUR 2024‘
Following unprecedented demand, selling out 32 nights of her “anniversary tour with a difference”, three additional encore shows have been added to Missy’s highly anticipated The Second Act Tour. Additionally, there will be new shows announced for both Adelaide and Darwin in the coming months.
New shows at Melbourne’s The Palais Theatre on Saturday 22 June, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday 5 July and ICC Sydney on Saturday 6 July will round out an incredible run of special shows for the Aussie singer-songwriter.
