Missy received an extraordinary 5 ARIA Awards in Sydney last night.

The 22 year old Melbournian walked away with the following gongs –

Highest Selling Album
Breakthrough Artist – Album
Best Pop Album
Best Female Artist
Album Of The Year

These prizes will go on her mantelpiece next to the “Breakthrough Single” award she won 12 months ago for her single “Scar”.

“I’m so grateful to everybody who voted – it was an amazing night”, said Missy who also performed the title track from her album during the telecast. “I can remember watching the ARIA’s when I was still at school and it never occurred to me that I’d even get to go to them – let alone that I’d be one of the people getting up and trying to make an acceptance speech! I think it will take a few months for it all to sink in.”

Missy has been confirmed to support Liz Phair on some of her upcoming USA shows in November. Dates and details are on the TOUR page.

In more good news for Missy Higgins, her Adelaide concert is now officially sold out. Like all gigs on this tour, the Adelaide event features special guest Ben Lee and will take place under the stars. The other shows are also very selling strongly so people are advised to get their tickets while they are still available.

In other Missy Higgins news, her first ever DVD – “If You Tell You Tell Me Yours, I’ll Tell You Mine” will be released on October 2nd. It will feature a documentary containing exclusive interview and behind the scenes footage as well as over an hour of concert footage.

Missy is currently touring in the U.S.. She will play a sold out show in London before returning to Australia in October for the tour and the ARIA Awards.

Missy Higgins has received an extraordinary seven nominations for this year’s ARIA Awards. At the ARIA Award nomination event today it was announced that Missy made the final five in the following categories:

Best Female Artist
Single of the Year – ‘The Special Two’
Best Pop Release – ‘The Sound of White’
Breakthrough Artist – Album
Highest Selling Album
Highest Selling Single – ‘Special Two’

The winners of these prestigious industry voted awards will be announced during a televised ceremony from Sydney’s Superdome on Sunday October 23rd.
