HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MISSY

It was an eventful birthday for Missy this year. As she was in the USA she actually celebrated it twice – once when it was August 19 Australian time and then the following day when that date arrived in America. On the first of these birthdays she performed “Scar” on the Craig Ferguson TV show before playing a sold out show at famous L.A. club The Troubadour. Check out an exclusive pic of the Craig Ferguson show here and of the Troubadour show here. Half way through the show, the capacity crowd at the Troubadour launched into a rousing version of “Happy Birthday”, prompting the embarrassed singer/songwriter to try to hide behind her keyboard. The following morning Missy flew out to the Colorado Folks Festival in order to see one of her favourite artists – Patty Griffin – perform live. Missy had the rest of the day off before appearing on that same festival on the next evening.

In another birthday treat Missy (who is now officially 22 no matter where you live) awoke to the news that she had sold over 20,000 tickets to her forthcoming Australian shows in their first day on sale. For more information about these gigs please check out the tour section on this site.

MISSY TICKETS ONSALE TOMORROW

Tickets for Missy Higgins’ series of October concerts go on sale nationally at 9am tomorrow. The seven shows under the stars will top an amazing 12 months for the former JJJ Unearthed winner, who has won ARIA, APRA and MTV Awards and been hailed “Artist of the Year” by Rolling Stone Magazine.

To support the announcement of her forthcoming national tour, the title track from Missy’s Album “The Sound Of White” was released as a single this week propelling her album back into the national top 10.

Another Australian favourite Ben Lee will join Missy as a special guest on all of her upcoming Australian shows. Ben’s highly acclaimed album “Awake is the New Sleep” is also currently riding high in the local charts.

In addition to Missy and Ben, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne audiences will have the added pleasure of performances by acclaimed US singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne.

Unfortunately, in a late development, Howie Day has withdrawn from the tour for scheduling reasons. However, his place will be taken by Australian artists Ash Grunwald (Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne), Holly Throsby (Darwin and Tasmania) and The McMenamins (Sydney).

Complete lineups and ticketing info is on the tour page.
