Missy will be performing a 30 minute set on KCRW Radio program ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’. Tune in at 11:15am (PDT) on Thursday, June 16, 2005 or listen online at www.kcrw.com. Don’t worry if you miss it as the program is rebroadcast online.

Missy will be playing live at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street in London THIS Friday (June 3rd). If you’re in town, be there by 6pm to see the performance!

Missy Higgins Brown Hoodies have now been added to the Merchandise section of the site. They are super comfortable and will keep you toasty throughout winter!

Missy Higgins’ “Scar” was voted the “Song Of The Year” by Australia’s songwriting community at last night’s APRA Awards in Sydney.

The 21 year old singer/songwriter also won the “Breakthrough Artist” category on the night.

The Awards honour excellence in musical composition and are peer voted. In a video link up Missy thanked everyone and said that these two awards were “the greatest honours” she has ever achieved.

Unfortunately Missy was unable to attend the actual ceremony because she is in the middle of a sold out UK tour which was scheduled many months ago.

Her album, “The Sound Of White” is released in Britain and the US early next month. Missy will therefore spend the next few months touring in the Northern Hemisphere. She hopes to return home for some more gigs in late October.

Just a quick email to let you know what Missy is up to at the moment.

For starters, “The Sound Of White” went back to #1 on this week’s Australian album chart which is the third time it’s reclaimed the top spot. Congrat’s to Missy and thanks to everyone who has helped make this happen!

Missy’s album will be released in the US and UK on June 7 and 13 respectively so she’s currently overseas in the leadup to those dates. Her current UK tour is largely sold out although limited tickets remain for a couple of dates. Please check out the “tours” page for more info.

North American fans can see Missy on NBC’s “Last Call With Carson Daly” on June 7. She is then touring with Amos Lee on the West Coast and will step out elsewhere in the US with Howie Day and Gavin Degraw in July (keep an eye on “Tours” for more info).

Missy will also do her first ever Canadian show on July 19 at The Horseshoe.

Meanwhile, fans who would like to pre-order the US version of “The Sound Of White” can get an auotgraphed copy while stocks last from Warner Brothers Records

Please note that the US tracklisting is slightly different from the Australian one. “Casualty” has been replaced by “Unbroken” and the order has been shuffled a little. “Unbroken” will soon be made available digitally and it will also feature on the B side of her next local single just so local fans don’t miss out.

In other Missy news, she has had two songs (“Scar” and “Ten Days”) make the final five for the APRA “Song Of The Year” which will be announced in Sydney next week. This prestigious award acknowledges excellence in songwriting and was won last year by John Butler. Keep an eye on www.www.missyhiggins.com for the results!

Lastly, in reply to all the emails asking about Australian tour dates, plans are currently being discussed to do a handfull of shows in the second half of October. However, an announcement about these dates is still at least a month or two away so thanks for your patience!

Missy has received not one but two nominations in this years APRA Awards ‘Song Of The Year’ category for ‘Scar’ and ‘Ten Days’. The ‘Song Of The Year’ Award is the biggest peer voted music award in Australia and is voted upon by around 15,000 songwriters. Other nominees for the award are Eskimo Joe, Jet and The Dissociatives.
